Cataclysm Mod on Minecraft Bedrock and Pocket Edition

A desktop computer labelled Java plus Forge and a phone labelled Bedrock Edition separated by a cross

A lot of players search for the Cataclysm Mod on Minecraft PE or Bedrock. It is a fair question, because "Minecraft" covers several editions that look alike. Unfortunately the answer is no: Cataclysm is a Java Edition mod, and Bedrock cannot run it.

Java and Bedrock are different games under the hood

Minecraft Java Edition runs on desktop computers and is written in Java. Bedrock Edition runs on phones, tablets, consoles and Windows, and is written in C++. They share a name and most gameplay, but the code is completely separate.

Forge mods like Cataclysm are Java code that plugs into Java Edition. Bedrock has no way to load a .jar file or Forge, so there is nothing to convert or sideload.

What about "Cataclysm" add-ons for Bedrock?

Bedrock supports add-ons: behaviour and resource packs that change mobs, items and worlds within the limits Bedrock allows. Creators sometimes publish add-ons inspired by popular Java mods, occasionally with similar names.

  • Such add-ons are separate projects made by other people, not ports of this mod.
  • They can differ a lot in quality and features from the Java original.
  • Judge each one on its own page: who made it, when it was updated, and what platform versions it supports.

Be cautious with sites that promise a "Cataclysm Mod APK" or a mobile installer. There is no Java mod that installs as an Android app. Those downloads are at best unrelated and at worst harmful.

If you want to play Cataclysm

You need a computer running Minecraft Java Edition (Windows, macOS or Linux) and the Forge loader for the matching Minecraft version. The installation guide covers the whole process. If you already own Bedrock on Windows, check your account: some purchases include access to both editions on PC.

Can Bedrock friends join a Cataclysm server?

Not in a meaningful way. Tools that bridge Bedrock players onto Java servers cannot give them the client-side mod content, and modded entities and blocks will not display properly for them. Everyone who wants the full experience needs Java Edition with the mod installed.

The Bedrock question is closely related to another one: people also search for a Terraria version. We explain that one in Cataclysm, Calamity and Terraria searches.
