"Cataclysm mod Fabric" is a popular search, usually from players whose favourite performance or utility mods run on Fabric. The short answer: the download on this site is a Forge project, and Forge mods do not load on Fabric. Here is why, and what you can do about it.
The short answer
The source archive linked from our download section is a Forge mod project for Minecraft 1.19.2. It does not contain a Fabric build, and this site does not know of an official Fabric release to point you to. If you find a file claiming to be "Cataclysm for Fabric", check who published it and whether the mod's author links to it before installing.
Why a Forge mod won't load on Fabric
Forge and Fabric are separate mod loaders. They hook into the game differently, expose different APIs, and read different metadata files. A mod written against Forge calls Forge classes that simply do not exist in a Fabric installation, so Fabric either ignores the jar or fails at startup. Renaming files or mixing loaders in one mods folder does not change that.
Your realistic options
1. Play Cataclysm on Forge
This is the dependable route. Set up a separate Forge profile or instance for your Cataclysm world, following the Forge installation guide. Many popular Fabric mods have Forge versions or Forge equivalents, so you can often rebuild your favourite setup there.
2. Keep two instances
Launchers that support multiple instances make it painless to keep a Fabric setup for one playstyle and a Forge setup for Cataclysm. Worlds created with Cataclysm should stay in the Forge instance.
3. Compatibility layers (with caution)
Community projects exist that let some Fabric mods run on Forge-based loaders for certain Minecraft versions. They work in the opposite direction from what most people expect (Fabric mods on a Forge-family loader, not Forge mods on Fabric), support is version-specific and unofficial, and complex content mods can behave unpredictably. Treat them as an experiment, and never test them on a world you care about.
What about Quilt or NeoForge?
Quilt is closely related to Fabric, so the same answer applies. NeoForge grew out of Forge and is used for many newer Minecraft versions; whether a given Cataclysm release supports it depends on that specific file. Always read the loader listed on the file you download rather than assuming.
Quick checklist before installing any build
- Does the file name or page state the loader (Forge, NeoForge, Fabric)?
- Does the Minecraft version match your instance exactly?
- Are required library mods listed, and do you have them?
- Is the source trustworthy? See the safety notes on the homepage.
