Cataclysm Mod structures and how to find them

A folded map with a dashed route linking three location pins and a pyramid

Every Cataclysm boss lives somewhere specific, and part of the fun is tracking those places down. This guide explains where the structures tend to generate, why an existing world might not have them nearby, and how to find them without wandering for hours.

How structure generation works

Minecraft places structures when a chunk is generated for the first time. If you add Cataclysm to an existing world, the areas you already explored will never gain the new structures. You need to travel into land nobody has loaded yet, or start a fresh world.

Tip: Nether and End areas are often less explored than the Overworld in long-running worlds, so Cataclysm structures there may be closer than you think.

The available structures depend on the release you installed, and newer versions add more. The boss guide covers what waits inside.

Finding them in survival

  • Explore in straight lines. Structures are spaced out, so long straight journeys through new terrain cover more candidate spots than circling near spawn.
  • Use the biome as a filter. Desert, ocean and specific Nether areas narrow the search considerably.
  • Travel by elytra or boat once you can. Oceans and the outer End are huge.
  • Map mods help. A minimap with waypoints makes it easy to note a structure and come back prepared.

Using /locate in creative or with cheats

If cheats are enabled, Minecraft's locate command finds the nearest structure of a given type:

/locate structure cataclysm: and then press Tab.

Tab completion lists the exact structure IDs your installed version registers, which is more reliable than copying IDs from a web page written for a different version. The command replies with coordinates you can teleport to or write down.

Still nothing?

If you have explored large amounts of new terrain and /locate finds nothing, check that the mod actually loaded (it should appear in the Mods list), that you are in the right dimension, and that a world-generation mod or datapack is not overriding structure placement. The troubleshooting guide has more checks.
